Echunga Golf Club

PROJECT: Clubhouse upgrade
ASK:  $58,000
STATUS: Funding required

Set in the picturesque Adelaide Hills, close to historic Hahndorf and amongst some of Australia’s finest wineries, Echunga Golf Club has much to offer, not just to its members but to the local community and to visitors to the region. The course offers 18 interesting holes on a gently undulating landscape dotted by large gum trees. The club prides itself on its friendly atmosphere, strong community links and well managed facilities.

But it needs help. Its biggest facility, its clubhouse, is in need of an upgrade.

Club President Ray D’Alessandro said: “With the club currently part of the recreational grounds of the district, an improvement to clubhouse facilities would offer a multi-purpose venue for functions and activities. It is anticipated that broader community use would further encourage a growth in membership and that club programs to encourage females and juniors into the game would be benefitted.

“We are keen to further connect with the community, especially women and juniors, to encourage them to play golf going into the future.”

The project includes an upgrade to inadequate air conditioning, replacing floor coverings, repairs to windows and ceiling, painting, and relocating the main office, which would improve seating capacity as well as allowing an attractive view of the golf course.

“We are keen to further connect with the community, especially women and juniors, to encourage them to play golf going into the future.”

KEY POINTS:

  • The club and course are in an important tourism area of South Australia
  • Interesting and challenging golf course for players of all ages and stages, laid out in beautiful quintessential Australian setting amongst tall gums
  • The club has significant links within its local community
  • An upgraded clubhouse would encourage broader community use, an increase in recreational golf activity and membership and assist in programs to encourage females and juniors into sporting activity
