The Flinders Island Golf Club is planning to construct an 18x10m equipment storage shed to replace their current 12x7m buggy shed. The larger size of the new shed will accommodate for the storage of carts, golf bags, buggies, lawn bowls and netball equipment. The current shed is crammed with golf clubs and there is no room for carts to be stored.
The current shed does not facilitate for netball and tennis equipment storage, and lawn bowls equipment is currently stored in a clubhouse cupboard or in the women’s change room, which is not appropriate.
Thus far, Communities Sport & Recreation (Tasmania) has granted the club $55,152 for the upgrade which is planned to commence in June 2022. The club is seeking additional government funding to ensure they do not fall short on resources to provide a first class facility for the remote island’s sporting groups.
Estimated Total Costs: $76,127
Government Funding Required/Seeking: $10,000 – $15,000
